When I was young, people would often say that I was smart and creative…
As a kid, I was quiet, shy, and very much an introvert. I used to draw and write obsessively. As a teen, I got involved in Graffiti Art, there is where I understood the whole other dimension of “writing”. It was freeing, and I could explore, invent, create, and survive, and heal. I was able to disrupt, distort, and manipulate not just letters, but also language. So, writing has always been a quiet passion of mine. This passion eventually led to the publishing of a few groundbreaking Art Education books. For me, it was never about “Education” in the traditional sense, it is, was, and continues to be, about “Sharing the knowledge”. Sharing what I know with people who want to know, and that can take many forms, visually or in the written word. Fast forward years, and you’ll see me working with young people, and communities in Creative Placemaking work, sharing the knowledge, but also sharing where their agency and self awareness lies. I also write from that nexus of creativity and spirituality, (more on that in the future). In the meantime, I still find time to crush a spray can now and then…
